Herbatonin is the world’s first plant melatonin (phyto-melatonin) made from unique varieties of rice, alfalfa and chlorella all in a vegan capsule. All other melatonin on the market is from synthetic or animal sources. Herbatonin 3mg is intended for short term use of 3 to 5 days to realign your circadian rhythm and sleep cycle.* For our full research comparing Herbatonin and synthetic melatonin on PubMed go to Molecules. 2021 Oct; 26(19): 6087.

The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, or “ORAC score” is a method of measuring the antioxidant capacity of different foods and supplements.

Independent laboratory analysis on Herbatonin demonstrated that it could have up to 950% stronger antioxidant potential and free radical scavenging capacity as compared to synthetic melatonin.*

DPPH is another method used to measure the antioxidant potential by analyzing the capacity to scavenge free radicals.

In vitro research on Herbatonin demonstrated that it could have up to 470% stronger antioxidant potential and free radical scavenging capacity as compared to synthetic melatonin.*

For our full research go to our publication at PubMed in Molecules. 2021 Oct; 26(19): 6087. Titled: Is Phytomelatonin Complex Better Than Synthetic Melatonin? The Assessment of the Antiradical and Anti-Inflammatory Properties

COX-2 is an enzyme responsible for inflammation, swelling and resulting pain.

Melatonin acts as a COX-2 inhibitor, reducing its production and thus inflammation, swelling and potential pain.
In vitro research on Herbatonin demonstrated that it could have up to 640% greater ability to reduce COX-2 enzyme activity as compared to synthetic melatonin.*

Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are by products of cellular metabolism. Overproduction of ROS is associated with cellular, mitochondrial and DNA damage as well as the development of various human diseases, inflammation, and aging.
Higher ROS levels = higher cell damage.

In vitro research on Herbatonin demonstrated that it could have up to 100% great ability to reduce ROS cell damage as compared to synthetic melatonin.* For our full research go to our publication on PubMed at Molecules. 2021 Oct; 26(19): 6087. • Jet Lag & Shift Work: 3mg melatonin to 5mg melatonin is the recommended dose for short term use to realign your body clock and the circadian rhythm.*
  • Antioxidant: Melatonin is a unique antioxidant in that it can cross the blood brain barrier and help prevent oxidant formation, scavenge free radicals and support repair of oxidized molecules. Most antioxidants only do one or two of these functions.*
  • Cellular Health: Melatonin supports healthy inflammation, reduces DNA and cellular damage and supports mitochondrial health.*

Melatonin regulates the circadian rhythm or sleep/wake cycle based on light and dark, NOT day and night. The sleep cycle is triggered when the retina registers darkness and secrets melatonin from the pineal gland into the bloodstream. Similarly, the wake cycle is triggered when the retina registers light. This is important as taking melatonin and then being exposed to light can make it harder to sleep or waking in darkness can make it hard to wake up.

As you can see, there is continual release of melatonin throughout the night with a major decline after about 5am. The melatonin in Herbatonin is within the cell of the plant, and so the natural digestion and breakdown of these cells means that it is released through the night mimicking the body’s own production.*

Shiftwork*: Take 1-2 capsules 30 minutes before desired sleep (or as recommended by your healthcare provider). Limit light exposure after taking.

Jet Lag*: Upon arriving in a new time zone, stay awake all day to mirror the new time zone sleep cycle. Take 1-2 capsules of Herbatonin about half an hour before desired sleep. Continue for the following 3-4 nights, gradually reducing the dose. Sleep in darkness and ensure the morning light wakes you up.

Antioxidant and Cellular Health*: as recommended by your healthcare practitioner

Consumer Lab is a 3rd party consumer watch dog who anonymously reviews various supplements every year looking at some of the leading melatonin brands in order to verify which products contained 100% of their label claim, complied with California’s Prop 65 heavy metals limits, and is in compliance with FDA labeling requirements. Herbatonin has been part of that review for over 10 years, and every single time it has not only passed, but is now one of Consumer Lab’s TOP PICKS.
